Thicc Kitchen’s Weekly Meal Plan
By: Tori McGeehon
November 12th – 16th 2018
Figuring out what to make for dinner every night just got easier! I know everyone dreads the question, “What do you want to eat?” and a reply of the classic “I don’t care, what ever you want…” and the back and forth bickering until eventually one person gets what they want and the other is left to mosey on with the choices the other made.
Let’s skip that tiring argument and take a look at all the craving-satisfying meals I have planned out for you this week…
You’re welcome.

Monday
ASIAN CHICKEN SALAD
I always like to start the week out light, and what’s a better way to do that than with a salad? Now, this isn’t your ordinary salad… I mean look at it, but don’t let that scare you because this salad is SUPER easy and you just might have half of the ingredients at home already!
Tuesday
SPANISH STYLE NACHOS
If you were paying attention last week, (*wink wink*) I went on a rant (a positive one) about the phrase “Taco Tuesday.” My rant, in short, was me going on in confusion why we brand just ONE day, “Taco Tuesday,” to enjoy Spanish cuisine. I could eat Spanish food every day, your neighbor wants to eat it everyday, the creepy guy at the gas station… would also love to eat it EVERY DAY! But here is me be basic and giving you “Nacho Tuesday.”
Wednesday
AVOCADO TURKEY MELT
It’s Wednesday, HUMP DAY! I have the perfect solution to help you drag yourself into Thursday, besides Thursday being a whole new day where you can eat a whole bunch of new foods… (Doesn’t everybody think about how a new day means new food??) ANYWAYS I’m going to pull you through Wednesday with this EASY (literally 5 ingredients), INEXPENSIVE, and DELICIOUS sammie melt.
Thursday
SAUSAGE & PEPPER SHEET TRAY BAKE
Wow, I sure am being nice this week. This sheet tray bake is needless to say BEAUTIFUL. Who wouldn’t want to fill their stomachs with the colors of the rainbow??? Not only is this dish beautiful, but it is EXTREMELY EASY, just a bunch of chopping and then set it and forget it and BOOM dinner is done!
I like to serve this dish with a crusty hoagie bun or a nice baked potato, sour cream, cheese… i’m now drooling.
Friday
GARLIC MUSHROOM LINGUINE
Honestly, bless me, because here is another EASY but BOMB dinner; perfect to pull your week together. I like to make this dish heading in to my weekend mainly because…
Friday night = Date night
Now I know your saying, “But Tori… garlic… my date won’t want to be within 2 inches of me!?” and my response is: “Well he/she has a garlic mouth too OKAY.”
A nice wine/beer pairing for your date night meal: Cabernet Sauvignon or Zinfandel / For beer, I’d try a dark stout or porter
Freestyle Weekend:
Your Choice!
We feel the weekend is the perfect time to enjoy your leftovers or have the opportunity to support your local establishments.
Otherwise, we encourage you to check out Tori’s Instagram or Facebook to get more recipe inspired ideas!
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE
If you’re like us, some nights there is just too much going on to find time to cook! On those nights, convenience takes precedence. That doesn’t have to mean you are giving up quality, though! We asked Tori for her expert advice on those days that we’re just too tired or busy to prepare a meal.
This week, she recommends supporting THESE local establishments:
“Life is rough. I get that you won’t always have time, motivation, or brain power to keep running to the store, making dinner, or even thinking about a meal plan… thankfully, we have A TON of great places that do all that for you in the QC.”
Brew in the Village
Is your Monday morning meeting delayed for the 3rd time? Do you ever feel like brunch but don’t want to do any of the work? What about even after a LONG day at work, do you crave a fat glass of wine? Do all these questions relate to you????? If so, you NEED to check this Davenport place out, not only is it the cutest building you will ever walk into, but the menu, drinks, and atmosphere are all top notch. My personal favorite at Brew in the Village, is ordering a drink on Friday during their stand up comedy (you should check it out) and if I get there early enough, a giant pretzel.

Yen Ching Express
This is definitely a hidden gem of the QC, located right in East Moline. I know the selection of Chinese/Asian cuisines come in plenty around here, but this store is well worth your while to stop by. All the sauces taste fresh and not pre-made/from a can and the crab ran-goons… best. I always get garlic chicken or veggie chicken and white rice, the water chestnuts in the garlic chicken ***screeching of joy inside.*** But guys, not only is this place amazing but it’s inexpensive as well, and I always end up with left overs for lunch the next day!

Tree House Pub & Eatery
I don’t know what to say about this place besides WHY HAVEN’T YOU GONE YET?! Located in Bettendorf, they serve a wide variety of lunch, dinner, drinks, and coffee options… and get this …the ingredients… FRESH. My favorite go to, to die for menu option is the Mediterranean pizza. Like I said, they have a wide variety of menu options but you can not go wrong with the pizza, they even have their very own brick pizza oven!
