It is our pleasure to introduce you to Sarah VanHorn! We found this local health foodie on Instagram. We noticed that she is utilizing some of the QC’s local establishments for her awesome health recipes and we thought it would be a great idea to connect with her! We hope to provide her with a platform to share her story AND her recipes!
Time for a delicious, sweet, colorful, healthy treat! I’m obsessed with making smoothies & smoothie bowls, I tease that I’m a fruitarian!
Today I’m going to share with you, one of my favorite smoothie, or smoothie bowl, recipes. I like to call this smoothie the Sunshine Smoothie, as it is packed with Vitamin C!
If you want to try it as a smoothie, add more OJ. If you prefer a smoothie bowl, add less OJ. (Less than 10 oz for a smoothie bowl & about 16 oz for a smoothie- you may have to adjust this depending on your blender!) I find for smoothie bowls, the Vitamix blender is the best. It comes with a churner to make thick smoothies!
I’m not really a person who measures so use your best judgement!
2 frozen bananas
Uncle Matt’s Organic OJ
-they make a turmeric OJ, that is best!
About 1 cup mango
1 teaspoon turmeric
A sprinkle of black pepper- this activates the turmeric
Optional: Add Camu Camu- very high in vitamin C
Some great smoothie bowl toppings are: coconut flakes, pineapple, banana and bee pollen!
