Sarah VanHorn – Holistic Health

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Sarah VanHorn! We found this local health foodie on Instagram. We noticed that she is utilizing some of the QC’s local establishments for her awesome health recipes and we thought it would be a great idea to connect with her! We hope to provide her with a platform to share her story AND her recipes!

Protein Balls

These are fun and easy, and you can create them anyway you want! I just recently learned about seed cycling and I like adding the seeds to these snacks! Ladies – if you don’t have a regular menstrual cycle, like me, these protein balls are great to get the right seeds in for a boost in hormone balance! They satisfy your late-night sweet tooth AND you can add protein or collagen to them for a great workout snack!

So, here’s my recipe
Seed Butter- No Sugar Added (I like to use sunflower seed butter)
GF Sprouted Oats (Easier on the digestion)
Raw Local Honey (Farmers Market or Heritage)
Cacao Nibs or Carob Chocolate Chips

Then, I mix up the add-ins
Bee Pollen
Coconut Flakes
Sunflower Seeds
Chia Seeds
Pumpkin Seeds
Flax Seeds
Sesame Seeds
Vital Proteins/Collagen
Plant Protein Powder

You can also choose to roll the balls in these add-ins for texture & a pop of color!

So, grab a big bowl and mix together all the in ingredients you want! I do not measure, so you will just get to experiment with the ingredients! You want the consistency to be like dough because you will then roll little balls out of the ingredients and put them in the fridge over night! They are then ready to go and you have easy, dessert, snack-balls for the week! And, if you need some on the go, we may be having them at Heritage soon!
