Sunday, October 7th: Build-A-Scarecrow


“Your whole family is invited to build your own scarecrow! Start with straw, some creative clothing and let your imagination run wild as you create a custom scarecrow while supplies last! All materials will be included with general admission cost or membership, but guests are encouraged to bring any old clothing to make your scarecrow unique to your family. Scarecrows will be named, labeled by family name and put on display in our gardens. Scarecrows can be picked up any time after 10/27.”

Sunday, October 14th: Pumpkin Painting


“Keep the mess of pumpkin decorating out of your kitchen and let us handle it! Bring the whole family to paint pumpkins while supplies last while surrounded by the setting of our gorgeous fall gardens. All materials for painting are included with general admission cost or membership, including pumpkins. Each child will receive one pumpkin to paint as their own. Additional pumpkins can be purchased for $3.”

“We are ending our Pumpkin Extravaganza events with a new way to love Fall even more! Experience fall gardens in a whole new way by playing mini-golf and other games in them! All equipment needed can be checked out at our front desk, and returned when you are finished.”

Not So Scary Halloween Walk

October 12th and October 26

“Come join us on a thrilling and family-friendly night time tour of our tropical Sun Garden all decorated for Halloween! Come in costume and bring a small flashlight as the little ones explore the winding pathways in the dark. Shine your light to find resident toads or into our fish ponds to find sleeping Koi and Goldfish. You might even get lucky enough to have a visit from our friendly turtle swimming around. Let your imagination come alive to the sound of our 14 foot high waterfall or listen to the chirping of our tree crickets hiding in the plants. Search out these and many other discoveries on this fun and exciting evening. When you are done inside, head out to the train garden and watch the lit up trains go around the tracks! You can also enjoy crafts and refreshments while you are here! All children will be sent home with a goody bag.

Event is included with general admission or membership. General admission is $7 for adults, $4 ages 2-15, and free under 2.

“Friends, neighbors, and families are invited to Halloweekend, a fun and festive community event at beautiful Camp Liberty in New Liberty, Iowa!
During the day, families can enjoy hiking, fishing at Flint Lake, and geocaching across the property. We will also have Halloween-themed activities like “tent-or-treating”, a costume contest, and a haunted hike. Tickets will also be available for hay rack rides, pumpkin chucking, and our caramel apple bar.
Come for just the day or pack your bags for an overnight family adventure. Choose to add on an overnight and take part in our All Camp Campfire, movie on the lawn, and other camp games and challenges. A variety of lodging choices are available, from platform tents to staying in a modern, climate-controlled cabin. Families staying overnight will be served dinner and a continental-style breakfast at the lodge. This family camp out is sure to build wonderful memories!
Grade Level: Families with children of all age levels

Fee: $5/participant for day activities from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The optional overnight ranges from $80-$250 depending on the number of family members and the type of accommodation.
