Casually scrolling through Instagram and we come across this young man, Trenton McDonough. Let me be the first one to tell you, we were SHOCKED to discover this professional photographer is only 19 years old and has already been owning and operating his business for almost a whole year now! Trenton enjoys spending his time travelling and photographing a variety of subjects and scenes. His passion, however, lies in landscape photography.

“Currently, my favorite place to visit is the southwest region of the US. I have been doing photography just a little over two years now and I have met so many great mentors who have helped me grow my skill set and develop my eye. I am always finding new places that I would like to visit someday, but finding the local hidden beauty in the Quad Cities is something that I really like to share with people.”

You can find some of his photographs throughout our website labeled with his watermark! We believe he has A LOT to offer the local community! We met with Trenton to find a little more about who is his and his goals and vision. Keep reading to find out what he had to say!

How did you get started in photography?
After a bad injury during my Junior year of high school wrestling season, I decided to pick up a camera for the first time over the winter months that I was recovering. From that point on I have continued to develop my skills and my passion grows every day!

When did you know you wanted to create a business out of this?
After I graduated from high school, I knew that this is what I wanted to do with my life and I’m excited to have met so many great people along my journey so far.

What makes your small business unique?
I think one thing that makes my small business unique is my diverse portfolio. Not only do I enjoy traveling and photographing vast landscapes, I also photograph people, portraits, events, real estate and more!

What is your favorite photo/video you have ever taken/created?
Currently, my favorite photo I have ever taken is from my last trip to Colorado. On my 19th birthday I hiked ten miles to a rural spot called Crystal Mill. Crystal Mill is a spot I had been long wanting to shoot and I’m so glad that I could spend my birthday at such an awesome spot.

If the Quad Cities needed to know one thing about your small business, what would it be?
I would say that I do offer drone photo and video! A new passion I have found is photographing things from a birds eye view. There are so many new ways to look at the world with new drone technology.

Why did you choose to pursue running your own business as opposed to working for someone else?
I choose to pursue my own business because I wanted to be in control of my own life and I believe the best way to do that is to be able to create your own schedule.

What is your favorite part about being located in the Quad Cities?
My favorite part of being located in the Quad Cities is being able to work with so many local small businesses to help them create content while doing what I love the most.

Is there anything you would like to see more of in the QC?
Something I would like to see more of in the QC would be more outdoor eating venues such as UpSky Bar!

Us too, Trenton!
