Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie puts a modern twist on old fashioned classic recipes.. just like Grandma used to make! Oh So Sweet uses old recipes that were passed down through the generations to provide their customers with the best, and freshest, homemade bakery items that Quad Cities has to offer. They bake cupcakes, cakes, cookies, bars, and whoopie pies.. just to name a few. Oh So Sweet is a local baking company that uses the freshest, highest quality ingredients when baking. Every item, from cupcakes, to frosting, to fillings, is made from scratch! AND they serve yummy lunch items too!

What/who inspired you to start baking?
I started baking because I was a type A stay at home mom who was bored and I decided to teach myself how to cook and bake.
When did you know you wanted to make a career out of it?
I was staying at home with my kids, and teaching group fitness classes. I was doing a lot of marathon and triathlon trianing as well. I had to have a minor surgery, which meant that I wasn’t going to be able to work at the gym or train for any races. I was bored and had a lot of time on my hands. That’s when I decided to open a small baking business out of my home.
What sets you apart from other bakeries in the area?
I feel like Oh So Sweet is different than other bakeries in the area in that everything we make is from scratch; our graham crackers, all of our frostings, our fillings, our salted caramel, etc are all made from scratch. I also feel that Oh So Sweet is different because we host different events and classes here to teach the public how to bake. We’ve also hosted The Great Quad City Bake Off and a cupcake competition too.
What is your favorite part about being a small business owner located in the Quad Cities?
I love having a business located in the Quad Cities, but more importantly I love being part of Downtown Davenport. Having a business downtown is like having a whole additional family. Everybody works together on different events and supports each other. And I love how far downtown has come. The revitalization and the energy of downtown is palpable! My favorite thing about being a small business owner in the Quad Cities is the people! I’ve met so many people as customers and some of them have turned into friends. I’ve also met a lot of other business owners too!
Favorite thing to bake? –or cook! And EAT!
My favorite thing to bake are Macarons. They’re fun to make, people love them and I have the opportunity to be super creative with them.
Favorite baked good you’ve ever made for a customer?
It’s hard to recall my favorite item that we’ve ever made for a customer. We’ve done so many amazing custom cakes, cookies and other items, it’s hard to choose. My favorite thing we ever made was a wedding cake for a couple that we delivered to Short Hills Country Club. It was a 4 tiered wedding cake, frosted entirely in cream cheese frosting and it was STUNNING! And the bride said all of the guests loved the cake.
Where do you hope to see your business 5 years from now?
In 5 years I hope to have expanded and grown the business into two different locations.
What do you want to make sure EVERYONE knows about Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie?!
OMG I DON’T KNOW! I guess I would just want everyone to know that we are a hard working group of girls trying to bring the Quad Cities unique food made totally from scratch. Oh, and also that we serve lunch. I don’t think very many people know that we serve lunch!
