I live an active life, whether that’s hiking, yoga class or chasing my kids around, it’s about keeping my body moving. I believe in maintaining a healthy lifestyle through healthy food, exercise and self-care. I love making my clients feel better and helping them achieve their overall wellness.
We had a chance to get to know Justine and learn a little more about Element Massage!
What inspired you to get into massage therapy?
I wanted to help people feel better and the best way I felt I could do that was massage therapy. I was a fairly active child and grew up in sports so working with the human body fascinated me. It was simple choice for me, massage therapy was a way for me to join my science and more free spirited side. It is a journey that I have always feel drawn to.
When did you decide you were ready to turn it into a business?
Around 2 years ago I felt like I hit a wall after being in the massage business for around 9 years. At that point I knew my way around the spa industry so I decided to make the leap to independence and I haven’t looked back since.
What made you decide to open your own business as opposed to working for an already established massage therapy company?
I have always been a bit of a free spirit, so it was not much of a leap to see myself in my own space doing what I know and love.
Your small business is definitely unique. What do you, personally, think makes it most unique to the Quad Cities Area?
I am independently owned and operated so I feel that my customer focus is tough to match. There are plenty of massage therapy establishments around but with my service you get the focus you deserve. Also, education is so important to me. I am continuously taking classes in different modalities to expand my knowledge and continue to fulfill the wants and needs of my clientele.
What is your favorite part about owning and operating a massage therapy business?
The freedom it gives me. As a working mom of two boys sometimes it can be difficult to juggle. Setting my own schedule allows me the best of both worlds. I have my home life and my work life. I enjoy being able to schedule my guests in a more free form way. That way I am not trying to rush a service just to get to the next, I get to spend extra time with the clients to understanding their concerns and what goals they may have.
If the Quad Cities needed to know one thing about your business, what would it be?
That I work very hard to offer custom tailored services to my clientele and to always go above and beyond their expectations.
What is your favorite part about being located in the Quad Cities?
I enjoy the hustle and bustle of a small but thriving community. My clients come from all walks of life and I feel grateful that I get to connect with the community in such a unique way.
How long has your business been running?
I have been operating for 2 years in June but I’ve been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 11 years in November.
What are your hopes/vision of Element Massage for the future?
My hope for Element Massage is someday expand into my own space. To someday be able to employ a few hand selected, and dedicated people to help me fulfill my vision of offering the QC with the highest quality services.
Is there anything you would like to see more of in the QC?
Honestly, I found that if you look hard enough, we have a little taste of just about everything here. Just another reason I love this area.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
